He has since written many novels and other works. ![]() No Shakespeare, but it's not supposed to be. Clive Barker (born 5 October 1952) is an English novelist, playwright, author, film director, and visual artist who came to prominence in the mid-1980s with a series of short stories, the Books of Blood, which established him as a leading horror writer. We hardly ever see the infamous Pinhead at all. ![]() This is the only one of the series that depends on the story more than the demons. Come on guys, if it was SUPPOSED to be Shakespeare, it would not advertise as being able to "tear your soul apart." The presence of the cenobites was originally intended not to carry the story but to emphasize it. ![]() What really gets me, though, is the people calling it down, saying it's not quality entertainment. Maybe that's because these seem more realistic than the characters we CAN latch onto. One common complaint: The characters are not pleasant enough we can latch onto them. The acting is fine, but there are imperfections. What results is a cinematic masterpiece, a great mix of gore and violence, as well as a great musical score and some nice drama. Instead of some maniac ripped from Halloween, we get a simple wooden box. In a decade of cheap, exploitive slashers, we finally get this one. ![]()

However, when developing the outline for the series he found that Celenawe's history could be better told as a "quest" narrative. Petersen originally planned to make this a shorter, four-issue anthology series with each issue documenting a different Celanawe adventure. ![]() Around 2007, when Petersen was beginning to draft Winter 1152, he committed to the idea that the third Mouse Guard volume would explore the history of Celanawe and of his finding of the Black Axe. ![]() ![]() ![]() While in hospital, he has an unexpected meeting with Grace, an intelligent and literate black nurse whom he first met as a young woman staying in a large house where she was enslaved.
